Tanzania is among the top 20 fastest growing economies in the world, and is on track to translate its economic growth into economic growth through early poverty reduction and improvement in the quality of life of the majority of its population.
This requires addressing certain emergencies to facilitate access to energy and transportation infrastructure and improve the business climate.
In this context, business and investment opportunities are identified for Spanish companies in Tanzania.
In addition to tourism, there are investment opportunities in energy exploration and exploitation activities in Tanzania, especially in oil and gas, due to the latest discoveries of fields that attract strong foreign investment.
Most of the transport and energy infrastructure projects approved and implemented in Tanzania are financed by multilateral organizations (notably the World Bank and the African Development Bank ), and by development agencies of the EU and other countries, such as Japan ( JICA), China and Turkey.
The African Development Bank plays a key role, with projects valued at US$1.8 billion.
Its purpose is to reinforce 5 fundamental pillars, which we detail in this article, with the aim of giving Tanzania the status of a middle-income country in 2025.
Tanzania has 55.6 million inhabitants, and shows a population growth of around 3% each year. Its rural population has grown at a rate of 2.1% annually.
The majority of this rural population are farmers dependent on their crops as their main source of survival: it is estimated that 87% of this population has plantations for self-consumption, while the remaining 13% commercialize them.
